RESEARCH IN NEED OF FUNDING

As health care continues to evolve, Life Laboratory is often discovering new areas of research in our quest for higher quality, lower costs and a healthier population.  We are always interested in new partners as well as funders that share in this common goal for an improved health care system.  Currently, we are interested in pursuing the following potential proof of concept research studies:

  • Behavioral Health Services Integration with Primary Care

This project will implement a value-based health care model of integrated behavioral health services embedded with a level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) family medicine practice, which is also participating in Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+), a national advanced PCMH model that aims to strengthen primary care through regionally-based multi-payer payment reform and care delivery transformation.  The research will consist of metrics of care, quality, costs, and value, and also include process strengths and process improvements needed, as well as outcomes reporting.

  • Pain Management Integration with Primary Care

This project will implement a value-based health care model of integrated pain management services embedded with a level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) family medicine practice, which is also participating in Comprehensive Primary Care Plus (CPC+), a national advanced PCMH model that aims to strengthen primary care through regionally-based multi-payer payment reform and care delivery transformation.  The research will consist of metrics of care, quality, costs, and value, and also include process strengths and process improvements needed, as well as outcomes reporting.

  • Care Management Embedded into Primary Care

This project will help define the scope of population health that can be optimally incorporated into PCMH primary care. Issues to be incorporated into this research include defining metrics, quality, costs, and value, all resulting in outcomes reporting. Resource and funding requirements and process improvements will be articulated.

  • Vertical Care Systems Research, with a Foundation Focus on Primary Care

This project will develop reportable metrics on the patient journey and outcomes through the continuum from primary care to secondary to tertiary to quaternary and back to primary care in a PCMH.

  • Costs of Care and ROI Resulting in Value-Based Health Care Reporting

This project will select common preventive care and disease management metrics, interventions and outcomes driven by primary care. This research is intended to demonstrate that optimum quality primary care costs less, when we deliver the right care at the right time to the right patient.

  • Triple Aim Implementation

This project will identify operational imperatives, feasibility, deliverability, and costs, from a primary care population health and PCMH perspective.

  • Care Management Process & Implementation Research

This project will focus on transitions of care, coordination of care with hospitalists and specialists of in-patient care, discharge care plan development with wraparound care management, and include observation status analyses.

  • Implementation of Telehealth Technologies

This project will focus on access and engagement for health care consumers working in concert with their health care professionals, and utilizing smart phones, tablets and other electronic devices. Preparation of the health care team will be articulated in balance with feasibility, deliverability, quality, safety, and privacy.

  • Build-a-Study

Field-testing is not a common practice in primary care.  Life Laboratory invites foundations, health systems, insurance providers, etc. to recommend and collaborate with Life Laboratory to build studies focused on achieving the best outcomes at reasonable costs for every patient.
